How to use LINE (http://line.naver.jp) on Ubuntu with Wine

This article describes how to run LINE (http://line.naver.jp) on Ubuntu (12.10). I also submited this result to AppDB of WineHQ.

1. Install wine (1.5.27)
    • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
    • sudo apt-get update
    • sudo apt-get install wine1.5
2.Configure Wine using 'winecfg' for the first time.
    • WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
    • Choose 'Windows 7' as 'Windows Version'
    • Press 'OK' to confirm and close.

3. Install required components using 'winetricks':  dotnet20, msxml6, vcrun2008

4. Install required fonts (optional) using 'winetricks': consolas, corefonts, eufonts, lucida, tahoma, unifont

5. Configure libraries using winecfg as below:
    • msvcr90: native
    • msxml6: native
    • gdiplus: native
    • riched20: builtin, native

6. Install downloaded Line using Wine Windows Program Loader.

7. Run Line, and disable sound notification first. The sound notification will cause my Line crash.

8. Now, Line can run under your Ubuntu thru Wine.

  1. 請問您在 line 的訊息或好友列表中的中文顯示是否正常? 我也可以在 Debian 中透過 playonlinux 把 line 裝起來,但中文字都是框框...
